Beaufort Elementary
School is a two story building that sits on a bluff overlooking the
Beaufort River. Our attendance zone includes the historical district,
the downtown Beaufort area and an extended area of neighborhoods
designated by the Beaufort County Board of Education.
Recognized
as a National Blue Ribbon School of excellence in 1998-99, a Palmetto
Silver Award recipient in 2008- 2009, 2010-2011, 2012-2013, 2013-2014,
Palmetto Gold Award recipient in 2013-2014, the National TAP
Ambassador School 2013-2014, and an AdvancED STEM School in 2015-2016, Beaufort Elementary prides itself on
community connections. Local businesses, law offices, and retired
community members frequent our campus and share their expertise with our
students as reading buddies and often volunteer throughout our school.
Beaufort City firefighters routinely join the kids for lunch as the
headquarters building is a few blocks away from our school. We are
fortunate to be within walking distance of the City of Beaufort Historic
District where one can see 200-year old homes, downtown businesses in
action, and the downtown waterfront area with an active marina, a
community playground, and the local farmers market. Our students have
the unique opportunity to live and learn within a rich, historical area
of the city that is along the Beaufort River (part of the US
Intracoastal Waterway that extends along most of the east coast of the
United States).
